Music at Greenwood

Music at Greenwood is the newly revitalized concert series of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. The series will present 5 concerts per season in a variety of styles. Each concert will last approximately an hour and will be followed by a light reception. The series is supported by donations, and an offering will be accepted at each concert (suggested donation: $10 per person). For more announcements about upcoming events, follow us on Facebook.


2024 SEASON

Saturday, March 9, 4:00 p.m.: Paul Bisaccia, piano

Pianist Paul Bisaccia will provide the exciting debut of our 2024 concert series on Saturday, March 9th, at 4:00 p.m.! As a special homage to all of his “great great musical grandfathers,” Paul will play music by Beethoven, Haydn, Czerny and Liszt. Included will be Beethoven’s celebrated “Waldstein” Sonata and some Gershwin songs for an additional flair.


Saturday, May 18, 4:00 p.m.: Hot Cat Jazz Band

Join us for an entertaining afternoon with a six-piece jazz band. Hot Cat will play in a range of styles, and this concert is bound to be fun for everyone!


Saturday, July 13, 4:00 p.m.: Michael Kelly Blanchard

Local singer and storyteller Michael Kelly Blanchard will lead the audience on a textured path of memories and emotions evoked through both word and song, ending with a hope drawn from the firm trust in the loving heart of God.

 

Saturday, September 14, 4:00 p.m.: Sarah Schiener-Redenz, organ

St. Matthew's organist Sarah Schiener-Redenz will play selections by Bach, Mendelssohn, Franck, and others. Come hear the variety of sounds this instrument can produce!

 

Saturday, November 23, 4:00 p.m.: Greenwoods Consort, madrigal singers

Singing together for over twenty years, Greenwoods Consort comprises musicians who love vocal harmony and the music of the Renaissance. The songs they sing were written in the sixteenth through twentieth centuries, using intricate and independent parts. With a program ranging from Thomas Morley to Billy Joel, there is a wide variety of music to enjoy. We hope you will join us for this exciting conclusion to the 2024 season!
